Casino Hold'em is a variation of Texas Hold'em Poker, which is very likely the most popular card game in the world today. This poker variation is played in casinos against the dealer rather than against other players.

To start off a game of Casino Hold'em, place a wager on the ANTE area and click the DEAL button. Two hole (face down) cards are then dealt to the player and three community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table (known as the flop). At this point the player may choose to either FOLD or CALL. Folding will forfeit your cards and the ante wager. A call bet is always two times the size of the ante wager and allows you to continue playing Casino Hold'em.

Two more community cards are then dealt into the middle of the table, and the dealer will reveal their hand. Both you and the dealer will make up their best five card poker hands from the two hole cards and five community cards. The object of Casino Hold'em is to make a better poker hand than the dealer.

For the dealer to qualify, they must have a poker hand that is equal to a pair of fours or better. If the dealer doesn't qualify then the ante wager will be paid out according to the payout table below and the call bet is returned to the player (known as a push).

If the dealer qualifies and has a poker hand that beats your hand then the dealer wins and both your ante and the bet are lost. However, if the dealer qualifies but you have the superior hand, then the call bet will be paid out at even money (1:1) and the ante paid out according to the following table:

  • Royal flush - 100 to 1
  • Straight flush - 20 to 1
  • 4 of a kind - 10 to 1
  • Full house - 3 to 1
  • Flush - 2 to 1
  • All other - 1 to 1

Some Casino Hold'em games will also offer a bonus side bet, referred to as the AA+ Side Bet. The side bet is based on your two hole cards and the three flop cards. The payout for this bonus bet may vary but typically pays the following:

  • Royal flush - 100 to 1
  • Straight flush - 50 to 1
  • 4 of a kind - 40 to 1
  • Full house - 30 to 1
  • Flush - 20 to 1
  • Straight - 7 to 1
  • Three of a Kind - 7 to 1
  • Two Pair - 7 to 1
  • Pair of Aces - 7 to 1

Casino Hold'em Strategy

Casino Hold'em is not a typical poker game, in that it does not employ such regular poker features as playing against other players, or the ability to re-raise or to bluff. This prevents players from playing Casino Hold'em as they would a regular game of Texas Hold'em. In Casino Hold'em, the player's strategy is limited to deciding which hands to play and which to fold. However, as most poker players probably know, in heads-up (one on one) poker most of the hands are rather weak. So without one's advantage of having significantly more chips than the opponent, the ability to bluff, or any other regular poker strategy, the best way to win in Casino Hold'em is to play most of the hands. Call, go for the flop and for the river – that's the way to play Casino Hold'em. However, 2-7 offsuit is still the worst hand you can get and play, so be reasonable.
