Chris Cornell to Sing Casino Royale Title Song

Chris Cornell, the singer and songwriter behind the bands Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, has been chosen to perform the title song "You Know My Name" for the upcoming James Bond flick, Casino Royale.

Casino Royale is the 21st Bond movie but the first for the latest 007, Daniel Craig. The film is being directed by Martin Campbell, and Cornell will collaborate with Bond composer David Arnold to write and produce the title song for the film.

Casino Royale will be released worldwide by Columbia Pictures on November 17, 2006. Cornell is an acclaimed singer and songwriter. His upcoming Audioslave release will be the 11th album of his career but being chosen to sing the title song for Casino Royale may be what many will remember him for.

Cornell joins distinguished performers like Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Paul McCartney & Wings, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran and Garbage in the list of artists who have performed title songs for James Bond movie adventures.

Although Cornell will grab the attention of the audience from the opening credits, the real star of the show is sure to be Daniel Craig. Touted as bring a 'dark edginess' to James Bond, the early word has Craig as a possible all-time favourite Bond, and Casino Royale hasn't even been released yet!

Casino Royale is based on the first book by Ian Fleming. The story has not been told on film until now, and it follows Bond in his first few missions as a 007 agent. Bond's first mission leads him to Le Chiffre, banker to the world's terrorists. In order to stop Le Chiffre and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat him in a high-stakes Texas Hold'em poker game at Casino Royale. The new Bond girl (Eva Green) makes her appearance at Casino Royale, delivering Bond's poker stake and tasked with watching over the government's money. Romance is sure to ensue!
