The marketing department of Golden Palace Casino are always on the lookout for unique promotional opportunities. They've found one in German filmmaker Uwe Boll.

Boll is widely considered by movie critics to be the worst filmmaker in the world. He's made a number of films including Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and, more recently, BloodRayne. His movies have made him rich but his critics have been ruthless in their appraisals of his films for years.

Boll released BloodRayne earlier this year to a barrage of horrid reviews from critics. After taking the insults for years, Boll has done what any self-respecting filmmaker would do – he's challenged his critics to a boxing match. It looks like Boll has never heard of the saying, "The pen is mightier than the sword."

Boll defended his challenge, saying: "Many journalists make value judgments on my films based on the opinions of one or two thousand Internet voices. Half of those opinions come from people who've never watched my films."

Boll's challenge involved a proposal of a 3-round boxing match against anyone with the guts to step into the ring and take him on. He would film the matches and include footage of them in his next feature film, to be called Postal. Almost unbelievably, or perhaps understandably considering the likely exposure these matches will attract, a number of critics have accepted Boll's challenge and will face him in the ring next month.

At this stage, it looks like Boll will be facing five angry opponents in the ring. Four matches are scheduled for September 23, with the last match planned earlier in Spain. Boll has stated the challenge is still open, and he will take on anyone who wants to accept it. A selection committee selected five of Boll's harshest critics and, amazingly, they have all agreed to face Boll in the boxing ring.

One of the critics who accepted the challenge stated: "This will be a great opportunity to inflict some pain on a man who has been inflicting pain on us for years."
