Video Poker Variations2007-08-17
Erana Hansen
Video Poker is a constantly evolving casino game, with many variations being developed, fantastic promotions and bigger progressive jackpots offered for players every day. This article takes a closer look at some of the different Video Poker variations available today.
"Jacks or Better" is the most common variation of Video Poker and a good one for beginners to start with. Payoffs begin at a pair of Jacks or better, although a pair of Jacks will only return your money back so aim higher! Full pay Jacks or Better is also known as 9/6 Jacks or Better; the 9 refers to the payoff for a full house and the 6 refers to the payoff for a flush. Full pay Jacks or Better has a theoretical return of 99.54% when played with perfect strategy. "Tens or Better" is a variation of 6/5 Jacks or Better. The minimum paying hand is a pair of Tens, rather than a pair of Jacks. Strategy is similar between the two games, in spite of the very different full house and flush payouts. "Deuces Wild" is one of the more known Video Poker variants where all deuces (twos) act as a wild card and can be substituted with any other card in the deck in order to make a better poker hand. This means that the deuce can be used in combination to form many hands such as straights and flushes, which generally result in the player receiving a payout more often, however because of this, the minimum rank for a winning hand is three of a kind. Jackpots are usually paid out for four deuces or a natural Royal Flush. Deuces Wild can be found with pay schedules that offer a theoretical return as high as 100.762%, "Bonus Poker" is a Video Poker variation based on Jacks or Better. There are no wild cards but Bonus Poker offers a higher payout percentage for all Four-of-a-Kind hands. "Double Bonus" features a bonus payout for Four-of-a-Kind Aces. This variation offers up to a theoretical return of 100.1725%, when played with perfect strategy. "Double Double Bonus" Video Poker offers different bonus payoffs for each of the different Four-of-a-Kinds. Full pay Double Double Bonus can be found with pay schedules that offer up to a theoretical return of 100.067%, when played with perfect strategy. "Aces and Faces" is also a Jacks or Better variation that offers a higher payout for Four-of-a-Kind Aces or Four-of-a-Kind faces which are Kings, Queens or Jacks. Whichever Video Poker game you decide to play make sure you always play the maximum number of coins to give yourself a chance to win the major jackpot prize! Also make use of any comp points you are awarded while you play to maximize your returns. These and many more Video Poker variations are available online at casinos such as 32 Vegas Casino, Euro Grand Casino or Skykings Casino. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
