Online Casino Hold'em Strategy2007-09-04

Many online poker players are finding themselves attracted to the bright lights and fast action that online casinos provide. Playing poker can sometimes be frustrating, so hitting the casino tables can be a great way to escape the usual grind without the worry of bad beats!
One of the most popular poker variations in online casinos is Casino Hold'em. This game is played very similarly to the Texas Hold'em game that the newest poker generations would be familiar with. Many online poker players are pretty intelligent and understand that strategy in poker is very important, so here are some tips on how to play Casino Hold'em effectively. The great thing about Casino Hold'em is that you are only playing against the dealer. You don't have to worry about the other players. This is the key difference from regular Texas Hold'em games where reading other player's tendencies is vital. In Casino Hold'em your range of decisions is a lot simpler as you are only playing a dealer whose strategy is already printed on the virtual felt in front of you! First you need to place your ante and you will be dealt your two hole cards with the flop dealt face up in the middle of the table. This situation should be quite familiar to any poker player. You then need to decide whether to call or fold, based on your hole cards and the flop. Common sense and some knowledge of poker strategy will help you decide whether your hand is worth a call. There are no hard and fast rules to this decision. Most of the time it is mathematically correct to call and continue in the hand. So if you have any pair, draw to a straight, draw to a flush or even two over cards, you would be correct to call and continue in the hand. Mathematically it is only correct to fold around 18% of the time, which really only covers two unpaired low cards, which are low to the board, and do not present any straight or flush possibilities. Playing over 80% of hands is a little different to what poker players would be used to coming from the poker tables. However players with some understanding of the odds of one hand versus another random hand would understand that this is the correct play. Remember that for the dealer to qualify they need a 5-card poker hand that is equal to a pair of fours or better. If the flop already presents at least this scenario, then you know that the dealer will qualify so your bets will be paid out in full if you win. This information can be useful to help your decision if you have a marginal holding. When playing with an optimal strategy Casino Hold'em has a house edge of 2.16%. As with most side bets, the odds are quite favorable for the house for these bets at 6.26%. However if you use your common sense and poker smarts, then I'm sure you'll find this game a welcome relief from the usual grind at the poker tables! News CategoriesRSS xml feed
